Merino sheep wool - This is an exceptionally good quality wool.
Products made from 'curly' merino wool are fluffy and soft, a characteristic that increases their ability to insulate heat. Warmth is felt in cold and hot weather. The wool absorbs moisture very well: with a humidity of 100%, the wool absorbs as much as 40 % of moisture without feeling wet. When wool absorbs moisture, it undergoes a series of chemical reactions that release heat into the environment and the fabric itself stays warm, allowing the body to adapt to temperature fluctuations. Moisture evaporates from wool quite slowly: the top layer of wool (cuticle) is made up of tiny micropores that allow the fabric to breathe - the pores are so tiny that water, in the form of droplets, cannot penetrate the surface of the fabric, and so the moisture only escapes through the top pores, while preventing water from penetrating the fabric. The human body regulates body temperature by increasing surface circulation and, if necessary, by sweating, so the unique ability of wool to let air and water vapour pass through leaves a feeling of comfort.
The curl of the wool hair gives elasticity and flexibility. The elasticity ensures that the thermal insulation does not disappear, even with prolonged wear.Such products do not wrinkle and quickly return to their original position. Wool is easy to care for: thanks to chemical reactions, wool is easily cleaned.When wool garments are aired out, the smell of sweat or other odours disappears.
Merino wool is suitable even for people with allergies: it is made up of the same proteins as human skin - proteins and kerotins.
